History 04:20
Do you think we'll have a future? I'm asking for a friend Can anything get better? Will it all just end? Will there be a history To look back on these these days when they've passed? We must live for posterity and perpetuity Tied together by a thread of continuity That can last Can there be justice and freedom? Can there be a better world? Can the fascists be defeated? Can we save this dying world? Will there be a history To look back on these these days when they've passed? We must live for posterity and perpetuity Tied together by a thread of continuity That can last Do you think we'll have a future? I'm asking for a friend Can anything get better? Will it all just end?

Austerity 03:26
This material austerity Can get the better of me All weariness and stress Never really getting any rest All the scarcity all the paucity Can get the best of me Leaves me mired in need Leaves me tired and weak This emotional austerity Can get the better of me All emptiness and longing Always never belonging This spiritual austerity Can take it all out of me In waking life and shape shifting dreams Does anything mean what it means?

Route 2 Box 186 Campbell Swamp Road Route 2 Box 186 A place that is no more I hear the word "route" is pronounced "root" And I'm sure it is But in that place and time we said "rowt," So I'll say it that way instead That place is not real It's only in my mind I try to gather up What fragments I can find In my head it's become an ideal place Where nothing could go wrong A place I somehow thought could never end But I knew better all along I hate the lonesome call of a place Where I can never go I hate the whisper of a peace That I can never know That place is not real It's only in my mind I try to gather up All the pieces I can find That place is not real It's only in my mind I try to gather up What fragments I can find

Homesickness 04:05
I've got anticipatory grief For the whole world For everyone I meet For those I've loved and love I'm always mourning the passing Before it's come to pass Mourning each passing moment That can never last How can we say goodbye In the final parting? Leaving everything dead inside And the world brokenhearted The finality of never again Never again The longing of never again Never again How I miss it all Before it's gone How I miss it all When it's gone How I ache inside From homesickness How I break inside With homesickness Homesickness Homesickness Homesickness Homesickness

Camouflage 04:29
Nature abhors a vacuum The throbbing nothingness of the void Consciousness is a vacuum Through which all arises and is destroyed Consciousness is a black hole in Being An empty whirlpool drinking in everything The way in which the universe knows itself The way we know anything Predator and prey Winners and losers The chosen and the choosers Anything is possible Nothing is probable Anything is possible Nothing is probable I don't like that all life is vampiric It seems to me a major design flaw That all life preys on life just to stay alive The camouflage, fang and claw Predator and prey Winners and losers The chosen and the choosers The used and the users The abused and the abusers Predator and prey Winners and losers The chosen and the choosers The used and the users The abused and the abusers Anything is possible Nothing is probable Anything is possible Nothing is probable

I've got the human condition I've got it bad I caught the human condition It will drive you mad I've got the human condition The biggest decision I never had It is the constant contagion that is history The shameful infection inside you and me I'm positive that it's all mostly negative I'm positive that it's all mostly negative I'm positive that it's all mostly negative I'm positive that it's all mostly negative I'm of the human persuasion Trapped in the universal malady No matter which time or nation We share a hidden personal destiny I've seen the human condition In countless different stories It's the human condition It's the same old story I'm positive that it's all mostly negative I'm positive that it's all mostly negative I'm positive that it's all mostly negative I'm positive that it's all mostly negative It's the human condition Always stuck inside our heads Carrying out the pointless mission Of living until we're dead And don't get me started About my vicissitudes Yeah baby, don't get my started About my tribulations and vicissitudes I'm positive that it's all mostly negative I'm positive that it's all mostly negative I'm positive that it's all mostly negative I'm positive that it's all mostly negative

Regret 04:47
Everything's breaking my heart Just the way things are All the sickness, sadness and death I can't catch my breath Everything's taken away Day after day There's no way to stop it There's nothing to do Is this the best we can hope for? Is this all there is? Still I'm grateful for it In the midst of all the regret Thankful that all that will be taken away Hasn't all been taken yet What does it mean to be a human being? To be a human, to be a being? What does it mean to be? What does it mean to be? How are we conscious of being conscious? Consciousness of consciousness? Aware of our awareness? Aware of our being? What does it mean to be? What does it mean to be? Is this the best we can hope for? Is this as good as it gets? Still I'm grateful for it In the midst of all the regret Thankful that all that will be taken away Hasn't all been taken yet Is this the best we can hope for? Is this as good as it gets? Still I'm grateful for it In the midst of all the regret Thankful that all that will be taken away Hasn't all been taken yet

Nothing can make it better There's no cure There's no solution There's nothing anyone can do That's just how it is That's life on earth Where loss, sorrow and death Are encoded into birth Where to live is to die Where to have is to lose How on earth can I forget I've got these universal blues? There's a downward spiral Corkscrewing down to death A whirlwind, a whirlpool, a vortex Has it gotten hold of you yet? Losing family, brothers, fathers, mothers And with them a whole world That can never be recovered Never known or shared It will all go with me When consciousness flickers out No one will know or remember What it was all about When the light goes out The light goes out When the flame flickers out Flickers out When the light goes out Light goes out When the flame flickers out Flickers out

Future ghosts are haunting me Those who are but will not be The lurking loss that breaks the heart Cast asunder and torn apart As one by one we all depart So many ghosts lie in wait for me Linger around me now from the future Whispering sadly what will be Conspiring with ghosts of the past And always eluding capture Stop ghosting me, don't go away Why can't anything or anyone ever stay? Hungry ghosts are always feeding upon me Eating me alive, leaving me empty I'm in constant mourning For the ghosts yet to come Through the night, day and morning Beneath the moon, under the clouds Under the sun I'm always saying goodbye To everything and everyone My heart is always breaking Behind my eyes Unraveling as I come undone Stop ghosting me, don't go away Why can't anything or anyone ever stay? Hungry ghosts are always feeding upon me Eating me alive, leaving me empty

about

“Use your head, can't you, use your head, you're on earth, there's no cure for that!” ― Samuel Beckett, Endgame

So, it came to pass in those dark days in which the future of humanity, democracy and the planet itself seemed to teeter annoyingly on the precipice of doom day after day after repetitive day, week, month and year, with the nervous, skittish threats of climate change, fascism and global extinction hanging menacingly in the fetid air; it came to pass that in the midst of this incessant ongoing crisis, Jeffery Bridges, Elliott Crawford and Patrick Wallace "3 Humans" did get together to record a new album entitled "The Human Condition". It was a wonderful respite from the norm and a good time was had by all, with a good deal being accomplished and a good deal of music being recorded in a very small and fleeting amount of time during the summer of 2021 at Gibson Road Studio in the quaint, historic town of Vicksburg, Mississippi. There should perhaps be an explicit advisory warning of explicit emotional and angst ridden content in the collection of songs, but the good news is that some new creations now exist whereas before they did not, so that rather than not existing and being nothing, these songs are now at the very least something that quite organically grew into an unintentional exploration of those age-old universal themes of being human and existing within this strange thing called Existence, Being or Life and enduring what is commonly referred to in philosophy, literature and history as "The Human Condition".
